19 Jul - Mary Yoder’s Amish Restaurant

We stopped for dinner at this lovely little restaurant and store located right in the heart of Amish country. A meal of roast beef, fried chicken, mashed potatoes , carrots, salad, homemade rolls, and yummy desserts were served family style. Everyone ate to their hearts’ and tummies’ content, and then we went shopping. John asked the young ladies the purpose of their bonnets, and they didn’t have an answer, “just like any other teenager in any other culture.” We saw the horse-drawn carriages everywhere, and signs that said, “Whoa!” instead of “Stop.” There was also a sign for carriage crossings.
