Before the pageant kids of all ages could participate in stick pulling, stick walking, handcart pulling, horseshoe tossing, quilting, log sawing, parlor games, and more. The kids collected a small bead from each venue and then got a large bead when they had been to 10 events. Several of us danced dances from the time like the polka, the waltz, the highland fling, and some round dances. We could meet the cast and find relatives.
