Heber C. Kimball’s home was restored by his great grandson. When Dr. Kimball began to restore this home, tourists wanted to see it, and the idea for restoring Nauvoo was born. James L. Kimball became the first president of Nauvoo Restoration, Inc. Heber and his wife and their 3 children came to Nauvoo with nothing and lived in a lean-to while Heber worked on this home. The family lived in 2 log homes before the brick home was completed. They only lived in this home 4 months and 5 days before they moved west. Heber served 8 missions.
