Abraham Lincoln served four terms in the State Legislature, used the libraries, and argued before the State Supreme Court in this building. He also received pay vouchers; we got a copy of his last paycheck from the legislature. This is where Lincoln, in 1858, said, “a house divided against itself cannot stand.” This was where he laid in state before being buried.
