Thursday, July 17 was actually the first day of our tour. We were on the bus “promptly” at 8:00. We began our day by singing “Joseph Smith’s First Prayer. How appropriate before we entered the Sacred Grove on the Smith Family Farm near Palmyra, NY. It was a glorious way to begin our day. For most of the first hour, we had beautiful weather. We heard “sweet birds singing” as we walked the paths through the dense thicket of oak, birch, maple, and other trees. Then the heavens opened, and we were drenched. Many were inspired by the incredible beauty and peacefulness of the grove. Carol said, “The glorious walk through the Sacred Grove was truly the highlight to feel the spirit of that sacred place of the visit of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ to the 14 year old boy so long ago.
