22-23 Jul - Wilford Woodruff Home
Wilford Woodruff served 8 missions for the Church, baptizing more than 1800 people in England. He was so cold during his time in England that when he built his home, he put a fireplace in every room. He bartered his possessions for the bricks, saying, “I went to a brick kiln and flung out 7,000 bricks, nearly melting myself.” He and his family lived here less than 100 days before going west. He wrote in his journal, “I left Nauvoo for the last time perhaps in this life. I looked upon the temple and the City of Nauvoo as I retired from it and felt to ask the Lord to preserve it as a monument of the sacrifice of His Saints.”
