19 Jul - Stone Quarry at Chapin Creek

This sandstone quarry is located about 2 miles outside of Kirtland. I provided the stone for the temple. Men would quarry the stone during the week, using star drilling bits. Then they would let the stone dry in the sun and haul it to the temple site on Saturday. It was interesting to be able to still see the drilling marks on the stone.
