We took an hour-long cruise up and down the Mississippi River and were treated to tall tales and some facts from our riverboat pilot. We saw Jackson Island, river barges, and the railroad bridge. We even heard the story of Lover’s Leap. Watch out for Falling Rock.
After our cruise, we stayed on the boat for a delightful buffet. We were serenaded with banjo and harmonica music, and Charlie joined in on the fun. We also met the official Becky Thatcher and Tom Sawyer—selected by their town to travel and greet tourists for a year. What a great way to celebrate Pioneer Day!
